A forward who was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the January transfer window has emerged on the wishlist of Barcelona.

Spurs only managed to sign Conor Gallagher and Souza in the January window despite their injury crisis, much to the frustration of some supporters.

However, there was no shortage of attacking players linked with the North London club during the January window.

One of those was a Man City star, who continued to be named as a target for Tottenham until the final few days of the window.

Barcelona set their sights on Tottenham target Omar Marmoush

It was reported during the January window that Tottenham were ready to pounce on Omar Marmoush if the forward became available, but City chose to keep him.

Spurs may find it much more challenging to land the 27-year-old in the summer, as a new report in Sport (as translated by CaughtOffside) has revealed that Barcelona have entered the race for the forward.

The outlet claims that Barca are already ‘laying the groundwork’ for a decisive summer rebuild, and Marmoush has emerged as a ‘serious attacking target’.

The Catalan giants see the Egyptian as a natural fit for Hansi Flick’s fluid system and are fans of the player’s explosive pace and intelligent movement.

How much is Marmoush likely to cost?

Sport say that Barcelona are confident that the City star could be attainable for a fee below €75m (£65.8m).

The La Liga giants see that figure as ‘manageable’, given the current inflation trends for forwards across the continent.

Man City paid £59m to sign Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in January of last year, and the forward has scored 12 goals and provided five assists for Pep Guardiola’s men in 49 appearances.
