Tottenham Supporters’ Trust issue strong demand in response to recent ’embarrassment’

Things are not going well for Tottenham as we start the new year, and the Supporters’ Trust has made it very clear to the board how they feel.

Aside from the Europa League triumph at the end of last season, it’s safe to say 2025 was a fairly miserable year for Tottenham Hotspur fans.

Changing managers, Daniel Levy stepping away, and adjustments behind the scenes from top to bottom have not really had the desired impact, either.

The Lilywhites have started 2026 without a win in their three league games, and Thomas Frank is now under pressure with fans fed up with his style of play and the turgid performances the team puts out.

Tottenham Supporters’ Trust is unhappy with recent events

On top of the poor results and performances and the issues with the manager, Spurs fans have clashed with players in recent weeks, too.

It’s all coming to a head, one way or another, though, as the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has now issued a statement outlining why they are unhappy.

The statement reads: “Whilst we acknowledge the changes in personnel behind the scenes at the Club, this has regrettably not been matched with improvements on the pitch.

“There also appears to be a dramatic fall in ambition for the football club, as evidenced by the transfer window to date and repeated statements by Thomas Frank, reminding supporters that the Club finished 17th in the Premier League last season, that the Club is only participating in the Champions League through winning the Europa League, and that Bournemouth (a side without a win in 11 games) are ‘always a difficult team’ and that’s he is ‘not enjoying the job’.

“Supporters have suffered the embarrassment of players directly confronting them for exercising their right to express themselves, of the Club captain publicly calling out ‘other people’ at the Club who do not speak except ‘to tell a few lies’, and of the manager being photographed drinking from an Arsenal cup apparently unaware that he was doing so.”

The Supporters’ Trust adds that they understand some of these things could be explained, but insist the way they have been handled thus far displays a distinct “lack of understanding and a lack of care” for the reputation of the Club.

What does the Supporters’ Trust want?

So, where do we go from here? What is the objective of this message to the board? As expected, the Trust has the same demand they have been asking of the Club for as long as we can remember: to simply communicate better.

The statement adds: “We believe the Club leadership should address these issues publicly and through direct communication with fans.

“We stressed that fans need to hear directly from the Club leadership the ambition for the football club for this season, for next season, and for the foreseeable future.”

It’s hoped these improvements will begin with a show of ambition in the January transfer window. With no deals completed in the first ten days of January, the board has just three weeks now to prove they are serious about pushing Tottenham to compete at the highest level.
