Tottenham target could become free agent in 2026 after latest twist, he was once worth £67m

There has been a big development on the future of one rumoured Tottenham striker target, who could be available on a free next summer.

The speculation linking Serbian international Dusan Vlahovic with a move to N17 has intensified steadily over the last few months.

Some outlets have installed Tottenham as Vlahovic’s most likely destination in January, with some sources suggesting that Spurs can land the Juventus striker for just £13m as he is in the final year of his contract.

Last week, it was reported by Gazzetta dello Sport that Vlahovic’s future depends on the ongoing contract talks between the striker’s camp and Juve, and there has now been an update on those discussions.

Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic will only decide on his future next summer

According to Tuttosport, the 25-year-old’s representatives and the striker have decided to postpone the contract talks until next summer.

The two sides are at an impasse, and they have decided that discussions will be resumed at the end of the season when Juve will have a better idea of their financial position.

While this raises the likelihood of Vlahovic leaving the Allianz Stadium on a free transfer next summer, it also appears to rule out a January move for the centre-forward, even though he will have just six months left on his contract when the transfer window reopens.

The one factor which could decide Vlahovic’s future at Juventus

Tuttosport explain that Vlahovic is currently the highest-paid player in the Serie A, and the Bianconeri have some concerns over extending his contract.

They do not want to offer the striker more than €8m (£7m), which is significantly lower than the €12m (£10.5m) that he currently earns. Juve’s decision makers consider that a risk, given the former Fiorentina man’s inconsistency and injury record.

It is suggested that the Old Lady want to wait until they find out if they have secured Champions League qualification for next season before committing to a long-term deal for Vlahovic.
