Tottenham Hotspur made an ambitious attempt to sign a versatile forward with 17 goal contributions during the winter transfer window.
It was glaring during the January transfer window that Tottenham Hotspur needed way more depth in several areas of the pitch.
The left-wing spot vacated by Heung-min Son last summer was an area that needed to be strengthened during the winter, given the injury crisis Tottenham is dealing with, but Spurs once more fell short.
Son held down the left wing for Tottenham for much of the last decade, but he has yet to be properly replaced.

Tottenham’s attempt to sign Kenan Yildiz revealed
TeamTalk has now revealed that Spurs considered making a move for an exciting young prospect who has managed nine goals and provided eight assists in 31 appearances for Juventus so far this season.
Yildiz is the player in question. It is understood that after exploring a move for the wide forward in January, there was an acceptance from Tottenham that their ambitious attempt to land the 20-year-old Turkish international attacker was over.
The winger’s contract situation, which has dragged on, is what sparked Tottenham’s interest, but there was progress on that front in January.
Juventus contract progress with Yildiz ends Spurs transfer hope
Juventus have agreed a new deal for Yildiz that runs until 2030, with the player himself very keen on remaining in Italy.
Spurs supporters are big fans of the Turkish winger as they continue to name him amongst the wide forwards they want Tottenham to sign.
This is a big blow for Spurs and all the other European sides who have been keeping tabs on the Juventus man, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Tottenham will now have to focus on securing a deal for another winger in the summer, with Yildiz pretty much off the market.
