With the Premier League a week away from kicking off, the Spurs boss will be aiming to avoid any needless injuries. But De Zerbi will also be looking to improve his players’ fitness ahead of the new campaign.

Coming into the clash against Hoffenheim, the Tottenham boss has been forced into several team selection decisions.

James Maddison does not start here despite the Englishman clarifying that he is not nursing any injuries, contrary to reports.

Micky van de Ven also misses out as De Zerbi continues to manage the Dutchman’s fitness while, summer signing Mateus Fernandes is also once again absent due to an issue picked up in the club’s tour of Oceana.

Here is the Tottenham XI to take on Hoffenheim:

Tottenham: Kinsky, Robertson, Senesi, van Hecke, Gray (C), Gallagher, Bergvall, Tonali, Tel, Moore, Richarlison

Subs: Austin, Takai, Donley, Elliott-Parris, Tyrese Hall, Byrne, Adewole

Spurs prepare for quick turnaround before Premier League opener

Spurs will return to action once more on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after today’s encounter. Once more, it will be a clash against the German outfit Hoffenheim.

That game, however, will be a behind-closed-doors match-up between the two sides. It will also allow Roberto De Zerbi to hand out more minutes to the players who missed out today.

Once the Sunday encounter is done, Tottenham will then turn their focus to the Premier League, where Spurs are set to take on Brentford on the opening weekend at the Gtech Stadium.
