Tottenham Hotspur may still be battling for Premier League survival, but preparations behind the scenes are already gathering pace, with Spurs reportedly sending scouts to watch Pierre Kalulu.

While Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of beating the drop were significantly boosted by West Ham United’s latest defeat to Newcastle United, safety is still not guaranteed.

Nothing has changed in the Premier League table, with Spurs still only two points clear of the Hammers, who have played a game more and possess a significantly worse goal difference than Tottenham.

A draw against Chelsea and Spurs will once again be a Premier League side next season, but a defeat will see the fight for survival extend to the final day of the campaign.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding their league position, Tottenham still have one eye on next season, with preparations already beginning behind the scenes.

Tottenham eye Pierre Kalulu and Nicolo Fagioli moves

According to Tuttosport, Tottenham are understood to have set their sights on two Serie A stars as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

Juventus centre-back Pierre Kalulu and Fiorentina midfielder Nicolo Fagioli are the two players on Roberto De Zerbi’s radar.

Kalulu has been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation of late, with Manchester United also looking at the 25-year-old defender and already making an approach, although the Turin club closed the door on a potential exit.

Spurs are now considering the centre-back and even sent a scout to watch him live during Juventus’ 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday. The Tottenham official also watched La Viola midfielder Fagioli.

Spurs expected to make Kalulu move soon

Spurs Web has since reported that Roberto De Zerbi is keen on Tottenham signing Fagioli, given his profile as a midfield controller and tempo dictator.

However, while a price tag for the midfielder was never previously revealed, Tuttosport has now claimed that La Viola will not consider anything below £26m-£35m (€30m-€40m) for the 25-year-old midfielder.

As for Kalulu, it is claimed that Spurs are expected to make a move for the 25-year-old Italy international in the coming days.

However, they are unlikely to complete a deal for the Juventus defender, with the Turin club intent on keeping him. Juventus have already opened talks with his representatives over a contract renewal until 2030, alongside a salary increase from £2m (€2.4m) to around £3.3m-£3.5m (€3.8m-€4m) net per year.
