‘Tottenham to soon be making £80m signings’ – Ex-player makes huge claim

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to spend a penny this season on new transfers, becoming the first ever Premier League side not to make an addition in the summer transfer window.

With just hours left of the January window, it looks as if that pattern will continue until the end of the season too.

In fact, Spurs are actually in profit this year after offloading an ageing and injury prone Mousa Dembele off to China.

However, ex-Spurs star Chris Waddle believes it is only a matter of time before Tottenham are making big £80m signings like their Premier League rivals.

Spurs have always lagged behind the battle of spending power, with the likes of Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and even Arsenal packing more of a financial punch.

Waddle believes that once Tottenham move into their new stadium, Levy will give Pochettino similar funds to take the club to the next level.

He said (SportingBet): “I think Daniel Levy will give Pochettino the spending power of Man City and Liverpool once they move into the new stadium.

“Daniel Levy will have promised Pochettino that.

“I expect Tottenham to soon be making £80m signings that can push them to the next level.

“Tottenham fans are used to seeing their side finish in the top four and will now be wanting to win silverware.

“Once Tottenham move into the new stadium and start signing top players, they won’t have any excuses not to and I think they will.”
