Tottenham to try again as Serie A centre-back sees price tag drop to £26m

Tottenham Hotspur are set to try again to sign a centre-back they failed with a move for in January, and they have just learned why a deal for the player is not expected to be difficult to complete this summer.

While Tottenham Hotspur managed to secure the services of Kevin Danso from Lens in January, the Austrian was not the only big-name centre-back they reportedly pursued during the mid-season window.

At that time, it was reported by a few outlets that Spurs made a move for Fikayo Tomori, but the AC Milan man turned down the chance to join the Lilywhites.

Tomori subsequently admitted that he never considered joining Tottenham or departing the San Siro at all despite the fact he has struggled for game time for much of the season.

Tottenham handed huge Fikayo Tomori boost

TEAMtalk have now claimed that Spurs are once again plotting a move for the former Chelsea man this summer after failing to get a deal for the defender over the line back in January.

The outlet explains that the 27-year-old has been on Spurs’ radar for a long time and they see him as a ‘strong and reliable option’ who offers Premier League experience.

After holding ‘concrete discussions’ with the Rossoneri about the Englishman in January, Ange Postecoglou’s men will restart talks over a deal this summer.

The publication suggests that a deal might be easier to complete this time, suggesting that Milan’s valuation of Tomori is expected to come down.

AC Milan’s transfer stance on Tomori

TEAMtalk point out that the England international has dropped down Sergio Conceicao’s pecking order and suggests that the Serie A club now consider him to be expendable.

In fact, it is revealed that Milan have to sell some assets to offset their losses if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and the club would also need to raise funds through player sales to move for their top targets.

As a result, Tomori, who was previously thought to be valued at around €35m-€40m (£30m-£34m), is expected to be available for just around €30m (£26m) this summer.
