Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a summer move for an England international, who snubbed them in January, but Paul Robinson has now made a grim prediction about the North London club’s chances of landing the player.
Irrespective of who replaces Ange Postecoglou at the helm this summer, Spurs will need to show serious ambition in the transfer market if they are to push themselves back up the table next campaign.
It was reported last week that Tottenham are plotting a sensational move to sign Marcus Rashford, who has been in sublime form since his loan move to Aston Villa in January.
The forward’s season is now over after he succumbed to an injury, but there is no doubt that he is going to be one of the most sought-after players of the summer, having seemingly burned his bridges at Man United.

Paul Robinson says Tottenham have only one chance of landing Marcus Rashford
Robinson believes that having proven himself at Villa Park, the England international will only consider moving to sides which are competing at the top.
The former Spurs number one suggested that unless Tottenham qualify for the Champions League, they will not be in the conversation to sign Rashford.
When asked about the Lilywhites’ reported interest in the Man United man, the pundit told Football Insider: “They can try, but if they haven’t got Champions League football they won’t compete. Marcus Rashford has been to Aston Villa, and proved himself again at the top level – he’s shown everybody that there was something fundamentally wrong at Manchester United.
“The relationship with the manager was clearly broken down – that was an issue for him – he’s gone to Aston Villa and looks like the player he was two years ago.
“If it’s not Aston Villa, it will be a Champions League club, because that’s the level he needs to play at, and that’s the level which he’s able to play at.
“Tottenham are in the race for Marcus Rashford; but without Champions League football, without the Europa League trophy, and Tottenham 17th in the Premier League? Sorry, you’re not in the conversation.”

Why Spurs are likely to prioritise other alternatives over Rashford
Even if Tottenham secure Champions League qualification, Rashford’s wage demands are likely to be a major stumbling block for the Lilywhites.
Additionally, some sources claim that Spurs were snubbed when they explored a move for Rashford in January.
One would thus expect the North Londoners to have moved on from the Red Devils man, especially with several Premier League wingers potentially up for grabs this summer.
