Former Brentford boss Martin Allen has suggested that Thomas Frank has two youngsters at his disposal who could be the backbone of his Tottenham side for a long time to come.
Some pundits have been impressed with Tottenham’s strength in depth in midfield, with Frank being more than willing to rotate his options in the middle of the park.
While the new signing Joao Palhinha has garnered plenty of praise, the Lilywhites’ best midfielders so far have arguably been two of their young runs.
Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall have both made impressive starts to the season, showcasing the kind of versatility and tactical nous that one rarely sees in players so young.

Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall are long-term solutions for Tottenham
Martin Allen has noted that the Senegalese and Swedish youngsters are blessed with a very important attribute for modern-day midfielders: bags of energy.
He suggested that the pair are not too different from the midfield options Arne Slot has at his disposal at Liverpool.
Allen told Tottenham news: “I do think Sarr and Bergvall are the long-term solutions for Tottenham’s midfield. They’ve both got legs. They’ve got energy. And all the top, top teams, that’s where they excel.
“They’re the brilliant athletes, Liverpool, as we see them with them, they can run all day, all of them, they’ve got no passengers. As a manager, that’s what you have to try and build.”
Thomas Frank’s very interesting revelation about Bergvall
Bergvall has been getting plenty of plaudits at the start of the season, but Frank’s recent comment about the 19-year-old was quite revealing.
The Tottenham boss admitted that he sometimes has to tell Bergvall to run less, given the engine and the enthusiasm the teenager possesses.
Sarr is not too different, with Frank previously naming the 23-year-old as the Spurs player who has impressed him the most so far in his tenure.
