Tottenham transfer plan revealed with three positions shortlisted for investment

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans have been revealed ahead of the summer window, with the Lilywhites looking to bolster three key positions.

It indeed was a blissful end to the 24/25 season for Tottenham Hotspur, who managed to achieve their goal for the campaign – securing UEFA Champions League football, despite finishing 17th in the Premier League.

A Europa League triumph was all that the club needed, given their poor league display, where they lost 22 matches from 38 games, but that would matter little to their fans, who have now watched their club celebrate a trophy win for the first time in 17 years after they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League.

The financial reward for their recent European exploits has been laid bare, with Tottenham receiving a mouth-watering eight-figure sum from the Europa League this season.

Tottenham plan three-man summer signing strategy

With their summer transfer funds set to be bolstered alongside the lure of UEFA Champions League football, it is sure to be a busy summer at Hotspur Way.

Well, at least that is according to Football Insider’s chief correspondent Pete O’Rourke, who has now revealed the three positions Tottenham are looking to sign reinforcements for ahead of their return to the Champions League.

According to the journalist, Tottenham are expected to strengthen at centre-back, central midfield and in attack this summer.

Of course, centre-back would be a priority if Cristian Romero, who has been linked with a move to both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, departs.

He said: “A new centre-back will be a top priority for Spurs. Especially if Cristian Romero leaves.

“Another forward or wide forward is going to be something Tottenham would like to bring, as well as a new central midfielder.

“So I expect it to be a busy window for Spurs. Obviously, they can look at a different set of targets now that they have got Champions League football.”

Ange Postecoglou outlines ideal Champions League signings

The Tottenham manager has also revealed the sort of players he wants the club to sign ahead of next season.

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he wants experienced players who have played in the UEFA Champions League before, as well as players who would be quality squad options.

He said, “Yeah, I think not just us but any club that gets into the Champions League, I think understands that. It’s the most elite competition in Europe and it’s a great demand.

“So yeah, I think every club that gets into the Champions League sees it as an opportunity to strengthen with experience is the right word, but players who have played at that level, who are going to be comfortable at that level, not players who are stepping up to that level. That’s the difference.”
