Pete O’Rourke has revealed why Tottenham Hotspur will have to do ‘a lot’ to land a 28-year-old Premier League star this summer.

If Tottenham do stay up, their fans will be keen for the club to show some ambition in the summer window after flirting so closely with danger.

One would also expect a number of high-profile exits from Hotspur Way, including some senior men, who have repeatedly left the team down in the Premier League for well over a year.

One man who has been heavily linked with an exit is Guglielmo Vicario, who continues to be heavily linked with Inter Milan and Juventus.

Journalist gives Tottenham a warning about Dean Henderson pursuit

It has emerged over recent days that Spurs are eyeing Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson as a potential replacement for Vicario this summer.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke will not be surprised if Tottenham make a move for the Eagles star, but he has warned the Lilywhites about the South London club’s transfer stance regarding the England international.

When asked how difficult it would be for Spurs to get Henderson out of Selhurst Park, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “It would take a lot, no doubt about that. Dean Henderson is crucial to that Palace project going forward. He’s taken over the captaincy since the departure of Marc Guehi. If Vicario does end up leaving Tottenham this summer, they’re going to have to bring in a replacement; there’s no doubt about that.

“Dean Henderson would be somebody who could definitely go in there and make an impact at Tottenham if they were to pursue their interest. But from a Palace point of view, I don’t see them letting him go easily.

“They’ve obviously had difficulties in the last couple of windows, losing Ebere Eze and Marc Guehi, and they won’t want to lose another key player. It would send out the wrong signals. So it won’t be easy for Tottenham if they do plan to make a move for Dean Henderson.”

Spurs eyeing two other Premier League shot-stoppers

Over recent weeks, we have also seen reports that Man City’s James Trafford and Sunderland’s Robin Roefs are of interest to Tottenham.

However, Spurs are expected to face competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle for Trafford, making that pursuit difficult.

Meanwhile, some sources have claimed that Tottenham will have to shell out £50m to land Roefs as the Dutchman continues to excel in his debut Premier League season.
