Tottenham transfer target Nathan Ake responds to rumours

Tottenham Hotspur weren’t exactly active in the summer transfer window this year as they became the first ever Premier League side not to bring in a single new player.

However, that hasn’t stopped the papers linking Spurs with a number of potential signings for January or next summer.

One position that Pochettino may look at is centre back, with both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen having under a year left on their current deals.

If these two were to leave the club, only Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, and Cameron Carter-Vickers would remain, with Eric Dier as a back up.

So it is no surprise that Spurs have been linked with Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake after an impressive couple of seasons.

The left-footed, stylish, confident on the ball type centre back could be the perfect long-term replacement for Jan.

However, Ake has responded to the Spurs rumour in an interview with the Bournemouth Echo.

He said: “I am enjoying my time at Bournemouth. It is so good. I am playing, the manager is helping me a lot and the fans are good as well. They are always behind us so no, don’t be worried.

“It is speculation. It is papers. If something is true it is praise that you are doing something right but just keep doing the same, trying to play well for Bournemouth and see what happens.”
