Tottenham transfer team will be closely scouting one Monaco opponent this evening

Tottenham are keeping a close watch on one of Ligue 1’s brightest prospects, with their upcoming Champions League clash set to play a key role in a potential transfer move.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche was first reported during the summer transfer window, when Spurs were exploring wide attacking options to bolster their frontline.

While the club eventually moved for Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons, Akliouche stayed put in France despite firm interest from north London.

Since the start of this season, the Monaco winger has continued to impress, recording two goals and one assist in nine appearances so far.

Tottenham’s search for additional attacking depth has not ended, with the club continuing to assess wide forwards across Europe.

Among those still under consideration is Maghnes Akliouche, who remains on their radar alongside Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

According to teamTalk, Spurs have maintained their interest in Akliouche and plan to keep a particularly close eye on him during their Champions League meeting with AS Monaco.

The report adds that while Antoine Semenyo is currently viewed as Tottenham’s primary target, Akliouche remains part of the discussion among alternative options being monitored by Thomas Frank’s recruitment team.

Ahead of the Champions League clash, Maghnes Akliouche was asked about Tottenham’s previous summer interest in him.

The winger admitted that he was aware of the links but made it clear that his focus remains firmly on AS Monaco.

Speaking about the reports, he said: “It was very flattering to have these kind of stories and links, but I am a Monaco player and I am playing against Tottenham tomorrow, so I will give my best.

“In terms of whether I want to play in the Premier League in the future? Why not, but we will see. What is important for me is tomorrow’s game. I am not focused at all on other links and pressure.”
