Tottenham U19s are showing Thomas Frank and senior stars how it’s done in UEFA Youth League

Thomas Frank’s men are looking well short of the required standard in the Champions League, but Tottenham’s Under-19s are flying high in the UEFA Youth League.

Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in 15th place in the league phase of the Champions League, with two draws and a win in their three matches.

However, those results flatter them massively, with the Lilywhites arguably being second best in all three of their matches so far.

Spurs managed to escape with a draw after a poor showing at Monaco on Friday, which has raised alarm bells among the fans. Meanwhile, the Tottenham youngsters are showing their seniors how it’s done.

Tottenham U19s sit at the top of the UEFA Youth League standings

Unlike their seniors, the Spurs U19s have been playing some scintillating football and have comfortably beaten all three of Villarreal, Bodo/Glimt and AS Monaco 5-3, 6-0, and 4-2 respectively.

Wayne Burnett’s young guns have not had the same problem in creating changes or scoring goals as the first-team have, with Tottenham having scored a whopping 15 goals in their three UEFA Youth League matches so far.

They currently sit at the summit of the table and are in a very strong position to seal direct qualification for the round of 16 phase.

Luca Williams-Barnett in particular is impressing, with a goal and two assists in three European youth games.

Should Thomas Fank be looking towards the Spurs academy starlets?

Tottenham will not be able to solve their creativity problems by entering the market for now, and Thomas Frank has to come up with alternative solutions.

Given how the youth sides are playing, the Dane may be tempted to potentially turn to the U21 and U19 set-up for solutions.

Thomas Frank praised Luca Williams-Barnett after the teenager’s senior debut against Doncaster, and he may feel the urge to give the 17-year-old an opportunity in the Premier League and the Champions League.
