Tottenham up the ante to beat Premier League rivals to Rayan Cherki

Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their efforts to sign Rayan Cherki, and the North London club’s chances of landing the player have now been boosted following the decision that their Premier League rivals have made regarding the Lyon winger.

Over recent days, some reports have indicated that Tottenham are now in pole position to land Rayan Cherki, even though he is on the radar of several clubs around Europe.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Cherki’s preference is to join Liverpool this summer, but it appears that the North London club are persistent in their efforts to land the 21-year-old.

Just a few days ago, it emerged that Paris Saint-Germain have pulled out of the race to sign Cherki, thus handing Tottenham a boost, and it now appears that the Lilywhites are wasting no time in making a move for the Frenchman.

The outlet describes Tottenham as ‘prime contenders’ to land the 21-year-old, with the Lilywhites said to have begun fresh contact regarding a deal for the player.

The objective of Tottenham reaching out is to gain more knowledge about what it would take to bring Rayan Cherki to N17 this summer.

Spurs’ efforts to land Cherki boosted after Liverpool decision

GiveMeSport go on to explain that Spurs were previously in danger of losing out to Liverpool in the race for the Lyon man, backing up the claim that Anfield is his preferred destination.

However, it is alleged that the Reds are now prioritising a move for Bayer Leverkusen talisman Florian Wirtz instead, thus leaving the door open for other Premier League sides to advance on Cherki.

Tottenham are still very much in the hunt for the France Under-21 international, with the publication concluding that a move to North London is a ‘serious possibility’ for the versatile attacker.
