Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly very interested in securing a move for Angel Gomes on a free transfer this summer, as they look to reinforce their midfield options.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be prioritising their midfield in the upcoming transfer window. That comes as no surprise given the underwhelming performances from several of their midfielders this season.
Yves Bissouma’s recent displays have sparked frustration among Spurs fans, with some calling for the Malian to be moved on.
Following Rodrigo Bentancur’s inconsistent displays this season, and with the midfielder entering the final year of his current deal, Spurs supporters are unconvinced that Bentancur deserves a contract extension.
Tottenham Hotspur is said to be considering a midfield rebuild, and one name has emerged as a potential target.

Tottenham Hotspur pushing to sign Angel Gomes
Reports from Football Insider claim that Tottenham are very interested in signing Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer this summer.
The 24-year-old England international has emerged as a potential reinforcement for Ange Postecoglou’s midfield, providing a versatile option in the centre of the park. In fact, the Spurs boss is said to be a big fan of Gomes.
However, Spurs face stiff competition, with West Ham United reportedly ahead in the race to secure Gomes’ signature.
Angel Gomes an attractive free transfer option for Spurs
The Lille midfielder presents an intriguing opportunity for Tottenham Hotspur, particularly as they would not need to pay a transfer fee to sign him.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Tottenham’s free agent target Angel Gomes, stating that a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for the ex-Manchester United man.
This season, Gomes has registered one goal and one assist in 14 Ligue 1 appearances. Of course, these are not groundbreaking numbers, but given the experience he has gathered, he can do a job as a squad player for Spurs.
That being said, Tottenham’s primary focus in midfield should be securing a proper defensive midfielder—someone capable of shielding the backline and bringing balance to Postecoglou’s system.
