Tottenham have identified a rising La Liga star as a potential midfield addition, with new boss Thomas Frank eager to reinforce his options ahead of the new season.
While Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signings of three players this summer, including Mathys Tel for £29.5million from Bayern Munich, Kevin Danso from RC Lens, and Kota Takai from the J1 League, the Lilywhites have also missed out on a few targets.
Tottenham were said to be interested in Johnny Cardoso after they inserted a buy-back clause in the deal that saw Giovani Lo Celso move to Real Betis, but recent reports suggest that Cardoso could very well be joining Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham were also hoping to hijack Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United, but their efforts appear to be fruitless, with Mbeumo still keen on joining the Red Devils.
Ronny Bardghji has been closely monitored by Tottenham for some time; however, Bardghji looks set to be heading to Barcelona after they reportedly made an offer that has been accepted by Copenhagen.

Tottenham target Lucien Agoume transfer from Sevilla
Regardless, Spurs are expected to remain active this summer, as key areas of their squad still need to be bolstered. One of those areas is defensive midfield, where Tottenham currently have Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur as options.
Yves Bissouma could be sold this summer, and Tottenham would be eager to secure a replacement. Spanish outlet Fichajes is now reporting that Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs showing interest in a move for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder joined Sevilla from Inter Milan permanently last year and is currently under contract until June 2028.
It is stated that Agoume has become one of Europe’s most promising defensive midfielders during his 18 months in Spain, and there is growing belief that he could be open to a new challenge in the coming weeks.
Arsenal and Manchester United rival Spurs for Lucien Agoume
Spurs are expected to face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United, who are believed to have earmarked the France U21 international as a potential summer signing as well.
The French midfielder played a key role for Sevilla last season, making 35 La Liga appearances and registering four goal contributions for the Spanish side that narrowly avoided relegation, after the seven-time Europa League winners finished 17th in La Liga last season, a single point above 18th place.
It is understood that Sevilla would consider offers in the region of €20million (£17million) for Agoume this summer, and Arsenal are currently believed to be leading the chase.
As for Tottenham, it is claimed that they view the signing of the 23-year-old as a chance to add a young and versatile player to their midfield, as they believe they could offer the Frenchman an ideal environment for development.
