Tottenham want to avoid a £79m bidding war as Liverpool join Premier League transfer race

Tottenham Hotspur are bracing for a fresh transfer tussle in the Premier League as Liverpool join the race for a long-term target.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are already familiar with Antoine Semenyo, a player the club tracked last summer before he eventually signed a new contract at Bournemouth.

The winger committed his future to the Vitality Stadium until 2030, which effectively shut the door on any late push from Tottenham at the time.

Even so, recent reports have continued to link Spurs with a renewed move for Semenyo, although it is now understood that his valuation has climbed further.

Tottenham eye Antoine Semenyo transfer for winter window

TeamTalk is reporting that Tottenham still retain an interest in signing Antoine Semenyo in the winter window as the club weighs up potential wide options.

Spurs are believed to be keen to avoid a bidding war for the Ghana international, whose stock has risen sharply this season as he continues to impress in the final third.

Semenyo, once valued at around £70 million last summer, is now said to be worth £79 million, with the Lilywhites having even seen a £50 million offer for him rejected by Bournemouth during that period.

However, while Tottenham remain attentive to the situation, Bournemouth are not looking to part ways with their talisman, particularly given his nine goal contributions in the league, with six goals and three assists.

For Tottenham, Semenyo would represent a statement signing, but they have strong competition if they are to bring the wide man to north London.

Liverpool has also been credited with interest in the Bournemouth winger as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his attack and add long-term depth to his forward line.

It is believed that the Reds view Semenyo as a long-term investment who could complement Mo Salah and Alexander Isak, potentially even replacing Salah in the future.

With both Tottenham and Liverpool expected to battle for his signature, Bournemouth are hoping to keep him through the winter, which leaves his future uncertain.
