Tottenham warned against hiring manager who might ‘throw his toys out the pram’

Tim Sherwood has now warned Tottenham Hotspur against hiring one Premier League manager following Thomas Frank’s dismissal.

Tottenham Hotspur finally pulled the plug on Thomas Frank this morning after the Dane struggled to turn things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Frank posted the worst points-per-game ratio of any Spurs manager appointed for more than five games, with the Dane averaging 1.12 points in his 26 games as manager.

Enough was enough for the Tottenham higher-ups, who decided to sack Frank following Spurs’ latest 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Tottenham managerial search: Tim Sherwood warns against Oliver Glasner

Attention now turns to the way forward for Tottenham, with the club having the option to appoint a permanent option now or to go the interim route ahead of the summer window.

When it comes to interim options, there are a handful for Spurs to pick from as they aim to steady the ship.

The same can also be said about long-term options, as several managers are out of jobs and could be willing to join Tottenham.

Tim Sherwood has now ruled out a potential candidate who is still in a job. Speaking about Oliver Glasner’s conduct and suitability for the role, Tim Sherwood told Casinostugan: “Oliver Glasner has done a fantastic job at Crystal Palace but I do not like the way he has acted.

“I think he has thrown his toys out of the pram and I thought it was disrespectful to the club the way he came out and threw them under the bus.

“The club have been good to him. He knew when he took the job in the first place that Palace are a selling club. Their best players outgrow the club. That is exactly what happened, and this is not the first time Glasner has done this. He did the same at Frankfurt. Now he has done it again at Palace so I have no time for him.

“He has done a wonderful job. He has given the fans the best moment they have ever had in their recent history. He also gave them one of the worst moments with the way they went out against Macclesfield, do not forget.

“It all levels itself out but Palace have put him on the map in the Premier League and now I think a lot of clubs who might have taken a look at him before his outburst will think twice. They might think hold on, that might happen to us.”

Spurs face defining call in next managerial appointment

Picking the next manager is a big task for Tottenham, given how poorly their last couple of appointments have gone. This is not a decision they will want to rush into, and it is said Spurs could take until Monday to make an appointment.

Spurs are currently in a relegation scrap, with five points the difference between them and West Ham United, leaving the next manager with serious work to do as they aim to avoid relegation.

There is still some time to go before Tottenham next take to the pitch, and that should allow the board to assess their options before deciding on their next move.
