Tottenham won’t win anything with ‘flaky’ James Maddison – Pundit backs up Roy Keane

Tottenham have been warned they won’t win ‘anything significant’ with James Maddison despite his standout performance against Man United. It seems Roy Keane is not alone in his Maddison criticism and Simon Jordan joins the party.

A week of constant criticism on Tottenham Hotspur

James Maddison has had his fair share of criticism this week. Before the clash against Manchester United, the Englishman’s winning mentality and consistency were questioned after Roy Keane labelled him a player who never steps up to the plate.

The mentality of the squad was also questioned when Tony Cascarino slammed Spurs for their mediocre performances after they crashed out of two cup competitions last week, tagging this squad as the “Spursiest team” he has ever seen.

Although Spurs and Maddison have since responded well to the criticism thrown at them by securing a much-needed win against Manchester United, there is no ignoring the fact that this Spurs team are far from a title-winning side.

Simon Jordan doubles down on Roy Keane’s critique of James Maddison

Simon Jordan, speaking on talkSport, has now doubled down on Roy Keane’s comments on James Maddison. The pundit claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s side would not win “anything meaningful” with Maddison in the side.

He said: “Listen, there’s certain people that you listen to and have to pause for thought and I think Roy Keane probably, given the kind of player he was, I know Roy can be a pantomime villain and say things that subsequently get taken and amplified. But I think Roy Keane’s performances, achievements and level entitle him to opinion.

“I’m in the same place as Roy Keane, Maddison might have won an FA Cup with Leicester at a time when the collective of Leicester were a good side but if you think Maddison is the difference between Tottenham being a top side…

“He’s a good player, Maddison, a good player but for me, someone that’s sore and can’t play and someone that has an attitude that’s flaky. Good player or no good player, you’re not going to win anything meaningful with James Maddison in your side.”

Tottenham are in desperate need of a trophy

While James Maddison scoring a goal and securing a win was a good response to the criticism fired at him, it is not enough to silence the critiques.

This criticism will continue for as long as Spurs remain without a trophy. Unless Ange Postecoglou and his team deliver silverware to N17, there will always be talks about the mentality of this group of players.

The Europa League is set to return on the 6th of March, if the Lilywhites win that competition, then the critiques will be silenced undoubtedly.
