Tottenham will love Argentina’s fitness plan for Cristian Romero on international duty

Ange Postecoglou will be breathing a sigh of relief as Argentina’s assessment of Cristian Romero and their plan for the Tottenham man during the international break has now come to light.

Romero’s international call-up may have made some Spurs coaches nervous, given his injury woes this season. In fact, many Tottenham supporters were frustrated to see Romero named in the squad.

The Argentine only returned to action two weeks after a fourth-month layoff but that has not stopped Lionel Scaloni from calling up his star centre-back for the start of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

However, the Tottenham supporters and Postecoglou will breathe a little easier after hearing the latest reports from Argentina about Romero.

Argentina decide to rest Cristian Romero

DSportsRadio have now revealed that the Argentine medical staff have analysed the Spurs man and come to a conclusion about his fitness. The Albiceleste have two huge games coming up as they travel to Uruguay on Friday before hosting Brazil four days later.

It has now been revealed that Romero will not feature in one of those two matches, with the decision being made due to ‘physical reasons’.

This decision will be welcomed by everyone at Tottenham, who have been attempting to manage the former Juventus man’s minutes carefully as he still works his way back up to 100 per cent fitness.

The message Cristian Romero sent to Spurs fans after Fulham loss

Tottenham did not get the result they would have wanted leading into the international break, falling to a 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage, which was their 15th loss of the Premier League season in 29 matches.

The centre-back wrote: “We’re not happy with our current situation, but this group will always stand up and take responsibility for everything that happens at the club. Let’s all continue to stand together. Once again fans, thank you for always being there.”
