Tottenham will ‘push the boat out’ with new contract offer for star player, claims journalist

According to journalist Dean Jones in an interview with GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer Harry Kane a lucrative new contract to ensure he remains at the club beyond his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2024.

Kane’s future has been the subject of speculation for a while now. The England captain was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, and it was reported by Sky Sports that Pep Guardiola’s side had even tabled a £100 million bid for the striker (Sky Sports).

Obviously, that move didn’t materialise and Kane was an integral figure in leading Antonio Conte’s men to a fourth-place finish last season, securing Champions League football in the process.

That hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning, though, with Bayern Munich now the main suitor for Kane’s services (TZ).

With all this in mind, Tottenham Hotspur would be wise to offer Kane a new contract sooner rather than later and tie up his long-term future.

Indeed, Football Insider reported last week that the North London club will need to put an ‘extraordinary’ offer on the table to retain Kane’s services.

Now, according to Dean Jones, Spurs are ready to do just that. He said: “Obviously they’ll push the boat out financially to try and keep him, but I do wonder if it’s even about money at Kane for this point, surely it’s about now what he wants from the next couple of years of his career, which is going to be so important.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The most important thing for the club’s hierarchy now is to secure the future of both Harry Kane and Antonio Conte with new contracts, and you feel the two are waiting on one another before committing to that. Whatever the cost, whatever the requirements, Harry Kane has to be convinced to see out his career at Spurs.
