‘Tottenham will score’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts the score for Liverpool clash

Mark Lawrenson believes that while Tottenham Hotspur will pose problems to Liverpool going forward, the home side will emerge comfortable winners on Sunday.

The trip to Anfield is one that Spurs fans usually dread, with the Lilywhites having a poor record at the stadium. The last time they won at the venue was back in 2011, with Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart getting the goals on the day.

This year, there is even more negativity than usual among Tottenham supporters ahead of the fixture, given how poor Ange Postecoglou’s men have been over recent weeks.

They go into the game against Liverpool on the back of three straight defeats, with the tame performance at Stamford Bridge on Thursday raising some alarm bells.

Liverpool vs Tottenham score prediction

The Reds themselves have not been in great form recently and their title credentials now hang by a thread but Lawrenson believes that Jurgen Klopp’s men will get the job done against Tottenham.

He told Paddy Power: “Tottenham are very open and you know Liverpool will score, they always do. It’s getting closer to Jurgen Klopp’s swansong so they should put it in.

“I think Tottenham will score but Liverpool will win. Spurs have had some mad fixtures towards the end of this season! Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham.”

This game is essentially a free hit for Spurs as Champions League qualification now looks beyond us. Postecoglou will be hoping for his players to show some character after the recent defeats, with some of the Tottenham players now playing for their futures at the club.
