Two reliable journalists have shared a key detail about the generous contract that Tottenham Hotspur have offered to Roberto De Zerbi.

It emerged earlier today that De Zerbi is now edging close to agreeing a deal to become the next Tottenham head coach.

The information came from Ben Jacobs, who explained that the Italian had initially informed Spurs that he wanted to wait until the summer.

However, De Zerbi allegedly became more receptive to the Lilywhites after the club offered him a five-year contract.

Tottenham ready to make Roberto De Zerbi one of the highest-paid Premier League managers

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke is now reporting that Tottenham have not only offered a long-term deal to the former Brighton boss but also a lucrative one.

He says that Spurs’ proposal to De Zerbi involves a ‘significant financial package’ which would make the Italian one of the highest-paid managers in the Premier League. At the moment, that title goes to the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.

However, Pitt-Brooke confirms that even though Spurs are ‘pushing’ to appoint the 46-year-old, there is no agreement between the two parties at the moment.

Fabrizio Romano reveals latest on Spurs’ pursuit of De Zerbi

Romano has also shared very similar information on Tottenham’s pursuit of the former Seagulls boss.

He says that Tottenham’s five-year contract offer to De Zerbi includes a ‘top salary’, with the Italian’s camp currently in discussion with the London club’s hierarchy.

Romano wrote on X: “Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham, in regular contact since yesterday to try find an agreement and get the deal done. Five-year contract ready with top salary, with RDZ and his camp in discussions with Spurs. It’s always been the priority; despite links with Dyche & more names.”
