Tottenham Hotspur return to Champions League action tonight, and the team news has emerged ahead of a crucial knockout clash against Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League campaign resumes tonight after a very impressive league phase outing.
Spurs managed to secure a top-four finish in the initial round and, as such, secured an automatic qualification spot in the round of 16.
Their European campaign now resumes with a first-leg tie against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Tottenham team news as Cristian Romero returns vs Atletico Madrid
Tottenham are struggling domestically, and they will hope their league form does not affect what has been a Champions League run they can be proud of.
However, with the knockout stage now starting, it is more or less do or die for the Lilywhites, whose European run could be ended with defeat over two legs.
Coming into this first-leg tie, Igor Tudor has been handed a couple of boosts, with Cristian Romero back for Tottenham following his four-game suspension in the Premier League.
Micky van de Ven can also play here, although he will miss the Premier League match against Liverpool at the weekend.
At full-back, Djed Spence has also returned following his brief spell out due to a calf problem.
But the usual names remain out – the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Ben Davies, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert and Rodrigo Bentancur – are not available for selection as Spurs prepare to take on Atletico Madrid.
This is the Spurs team set to take to the field at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium today:
Antonin Kinsky; Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Micky Van de Ven; Pedro Porro, Pape Sarr, Archie Gray, Djed Spence; Randal Kolo Muani, Richarlison, Mathys Tel.
Bench: Dominic Solanke, Xavi Simons, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha, Radu Dragusin, James Roswell, Callum Olusesi, Guglielmo Vicario, Brandon Austin.
Spurs look for Igor Tudor’s first Tottenham win
New interim boss Igor Tudor is still searching for his first win as Tottenham manager, and tonight would be a good time for that victory to arrive.
Spurs are in desperate need of a win as they search for a spark to kick off 2026, a year in which they have yet to taste victory.
However, a tie against Atletico Madrid is never an easy one, meaning Tottenham will have to dig deep if they are to secure a result to take back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
