Tottenham’s Brazilian winger sends out warning to title contenders

Tottenham’s Lucas Moura sent out a warning message to Manchester City and Liverpool after the weekend’s 3-1 victory over Fulham.

The 26-year-old believes his side are more than up to the job of providing serious competition for the Premier League trophy.

Spurs finished third last season behind Manchester United and winners Manchester City.

However, many have backed Liverpool to be this year’s biggest threat in City’s attempt to regain their crown after a summer of spending by Jurgen Klopp.

Lucas told ESPN Brasil:

“We are a very strong team.

“In the last two seasons, we were always in the first places, qualifying for the Champions League.

“I think the important thing is that nobody left.

“I think we still have a very strong team, well intertwined, that’s very important, too.

“We have full conditions to fight at the top of the table.”

Lucas Moura opened his Premier League account with a superb left-footed strike in the first half on Saturday and will hope to keep his place in the starting XI.

Although Spurs may not have spent at all in the summer transfer window it is clear their players believe they have the ability and team spirit to provide serious competition for the title.
