Tottenham’s chances of signing Antoine Semenyo in January revealed after release clause twist

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Antoine Semenyo to bolster Thomas Frank’s attack ahead of the January window.

Tottenham Hotspur are already laying down the foundations for what could be a defining few transfer windows under Thomas Frank.

ENIC’s recent £100 million cash injection ahead of the January window has raised expectations around north London, with Spurs looking to flex more ambition on the pitch.

Behind the scenes, the reappointment of Fabio Paratici as Sporting Director has also sparked plenty of optimism.

The Italian is once again set to oversee recruitment and squad planning for the first team, a move that could be pivotal in shaping Tottenham’s long-term vision.

Tottenham’s chances of signing Antoine Semenyo in January

It is certainly an exciting period for Tottenham fans, and many have already started naming their preferred signings ahead of the coming transfer windows.

Antoine Semenyo is one name Tottenham supporters are especially keen to see in the first-team squad, and now TBR Football have shared an update on Spurs’ chances of attracting the Bournemouth forward.

According to the publication, it is believed that while Tottenham remain keen on Semenyo, a move is not expected to materialise in January, as Bournemouth are reluctant to sell midway through the season.

Speaking about the winger’s situation at Bournemouth, journalist Graeme Bailey explained to TBR Football that there has been plenty of speculation around the player’s future, but little to suggest a deal will happen soon.

He said: “We do not know too many details on Semenyo, but it has not been confirmed he does have a clause; they were inevitable to come out given so many clubs have been asking about him.

“Bournemouth insist they will not be selling in January, which, of course, they can in theory, but we have to presume they will stick to that. They value the player at well over £70 million anyway, and that would be tough in the January market.

“Come the summer, the expectation from around the Vitality is that they will sell, but when he does go, it will be a club record.”

Tottenham face competition for Antoine Semenyo

Of course, it does seem like a blow considering that Tottenham could have secured the services of Semenyo last summer had they met Bournemouth’s £70 million valuation.

Failure to do so meant the forward ended up extending his stay at the Vitality Stadium, and it would now take an even larger fee to prise him away next summer.

Tottenham will also face stiff competition for the Ghana international, with Chelsea among the clubs reportedly monitoring Semenyo’s progress.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with interest in the Bournemouth man, making it an increasingly tricky pursuit for Spurs.
