Dominic Solanke says Virgil van Djik is the best centre-back he has ever come up against, admitting that it is extremely challenging to play against the Liverpool centre-back.

Solanke has only played one Spurs game so far
Solanke will hope to be fit for this Sunday’s North London Derby, with the centre-forward having a golden chance to quickly become a Tottenham hero by netting his first goal against the old enemy.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that his record signing is the man to finish off the numerous chances that his side have been creating over the past few weeks.
The Englishman will not have an easy afternoon as he is expected to be up against the tightest defence in the Premier League from last season, with the Gunners boasting of two accomplished central defenders in Willaim Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Van Dijk is Solanke’s toughest opponent
However, Solanke admitted that it is Van Djik who has proven to be his toughest opponent, with the strength, pace and technical quality that the Reds star possesses.
When asked to name the best defender he has faced, the Spurs star told Sky Sports on Instagram: “I’ll probably say Van Dijk.
“He’s just got everything. Big, strong, good on the ball, aggressive. I think he is definitely one of the best defenders of our time. I’ll probably say he is the most difficult.”

Solankle played alongside peak Van Dijk for Liverpool for a couple of years and would have seen first-hand just how good the Netherlands international is in training.
Hopefully, he can get the better of Virgil when Spurs next play Liverpool though!
