Tottenham’s Eric Dier issues savage response to Reguilon’s injury update

Eric Dier has issued a brutal response to Sergio Reguilon’s plea to Fantasy Premier League managers not to sell him after he limped off in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Norwich City.

The Spanish defender, despite being seen with heavy strapping around his upper thigh before Sunday’s encounter, was named in Antonio Conte’s line-up for the visit of the Canaries.

However, his afternoon was cut short on 22 minutes when he went down clutching his hamstring before eventually being replaced by Ryan Sessegnon.

Reguilon quickly took to social media after his side’s win to issue an update on his condition to the club’s fans.

He said: “I’ll be back in a few days. Don’t sell me in Fantasy Premier League…”

The post then prompted Spurs team-mate Dier to send a sneaky jibe at Reguilon’s reference to worried Fantasy Premier League managers, by stating: “Who had bought you?”

Reguilon has been one of the stand-out performers for Spurs since Conte’s arrival and recorded a goal and assist in the two games leading up to the Norwich clash.

Spurs next host Rennes in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, but will be hopeful of having the energetic defender back for Sunday’s trip to Brighton.

The news of Reguilon’s injury will come as a relief for Spurs considering he has been emerging as a key player in Conte’s system. Hopefully, he will be okay for the Brighton encounter at the weekend with a bit of rest throughout the week.
