While Tottenham fans may have rested easy until a couple of weeks ago knowing that Arsenal had a more difficult run-in, the picture has completely changed after recent results.
The race for fourth place looks set to go right down to the wire, with six points separating Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United going into the final five games of the season.
The Lilywhites seemed to have the upper hand a couple of weeks ago but they have since only managed to take a point from Brighton and Brentford.
Arsenal have leapfrogged them in the table thanks to wins over Chelsea and Manchester United and sit two points clear of their North London rivals.
One could argue that Spurs now have the toughest fixture list out of the three sides competing for fourth place, with Antonio Conte’s men yet to travel to Anfield.
It is looking increasingly likely that the result of the North London derby on May 7 could determine who gets into the Champions League.
Here are Tottenham’s fixtures compared with Arsenal’s and Man Utd’s:
Tottenham’s final five games:
Leicester (H) – May 1
Liverpool (A) – May 7
Arsenal (H) – May 12
Burnley (H) – May 15
Norwich (A) – May 22
Arsenal’s final five Premier League fixtures
West Ham (A) – May 1
Leeds United (H) – May 8
Tottenham (A) – May 12
Newcastle (A) – May 16
Everton (H) – May 22
Man United’s final four Premier League fixtures
Chelsea (H) – April 28
Brentford (H) – May 2
Brighton (A) – May 7
Crystal Palace (A) – May 22
Spurs Web Opinion
I was hoping that we would have a decent cushion going into the North London derby but it now looks like that one is going to be a must-win game for us while Arsenal can play for a draw. However, given the inconsistencies of all the three sides competing for fourth, there could be quite a few twists and turns left in this race.
