Tottenham Hotspur have left no stone unturned in their efforts to make their stadium a difficult place to come to for travelling sides.
Spurs’ home form in the Premier League has been abject for the last two seasons, with the Lilywhites struggling to win in front of their own fans.
Turning that form around at N17 will be one of Roberto De Zerbi’s biggest challenges this season, and the Lilywhites are not off to a good start, having lost their first home league game 2-0 to Newcastle.
However, it appears that the club are doing everything in their power to make their stadium an unpleasant place to come for away sides.
Tottenham ditch luxury toiletries as part of away dressing room overhaul
A couple of weeks ago, Alasdair Gold reported that major changes have been made to the away dressing room at Tottenham’s stadium, with the club stripping it of its luxuries.
He claimed that the away changing room is now just a big empty room with benches and pegs, which brings it in line with the kind of facilities Spurs receive on their travels to other Premier League grounds.
The Sun have now also confirmed those reports, revealing that the away changing room has also been stripped of its luxury toiletries.
Molton Brown soaps and shower products have been taken away from the changing room. Additionally, all the central tables have been removed, and the walls have been painted badly.
Spurs need to develop a winning habit at home
While all these small changes may help in making opposition players slightly more uncomfortable, Tottenham can only turn their home form around if the team changes their habits on the pitch.
Unfortunately, the Spurs squad has got into a habit of losing over the last two Premier League seasons, especially at home, and De Zerbi’s challenge is now to change that mentally.
The only way for this to change and for away teams to be apprehensive about coming to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is if the Lilywhites string several wins together in front of their own fans.
