Tottenham’s genius stadium marketing campaign ends up biting them on the arse

At the time, it looked like a piece of marketing genius from Tottenham Hotspur, now it has bitten us on the arse following the decision to delay the official unveiling of the new stadium.

A number of months ago, eagle eyed Tottenham fans spotted some clever marketing from the club within the London Tube network which aimed a dig at Chelsea and Arsenal by featuring a photo of the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium, along with the words “The only place to watch UEFA Champions League in London” encouraging fans to purchase premium seats at the new stadium.

Yesterday’s announcement that the Liverpool and Cardiff City matches will now be switched to Wembley, will also mean that at the very least one of our Champions League group stage fixtures will also be held at the national stadium and completely backfiring on the initial marketing campaign.
