Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario trolls his critics with latest social media post

Guglielmo Vicario is having some fun at his critics’ expenses this week on social media. The post suspiciously emerged just as another Premier League goalkeeper found himself at the centre of a controversial decision.

Guglielmo Vicario a huge asset for Spurs

There is no doubt that Vicario has been a fantastic signing for Tottenham, with the goalkeeper’s outstanding shot-stopping skills and his ability to play out from the back being crucial for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

The Spurs man is also a natural leader on the pitch, being recently added to the club’s leadership group alongside Heung-min Son, Cristian Romero, and James Maddison.

Vicario pokes fun at critics

However, there has perhaps been a lot of undue focus on the Italian’s weakness from set-pieces over the last few months.

Many pundits have suggested that the 28-year-old must be stronger when he comes to claim crosses into the box and that is something that has decided to poke fun at in his latest Instagram post.

The goalkeeper posted a picture of himself doing some core strength work in the gym, along with the caption: “Be stronger mate”.

Vicario hinting at double standards?

Vicario was likely aiming his post towards Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa, who failed to come and deal with the corner-kick for Man City’s late winner on Sunday.

The Portuguese goalkeeper did seem to be impeded a little by Bernardo Silva on the line, although VAR did not intervene for a foul or for interfering with play.

Perhaps Vicario is suggesting that it is yet another case of Premier League keepers being held to higher standards than outfield players.
