Tottenham’s Heung-min Son receives snub for PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son has not been nominated for this season’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award.

Son has produced his most productive campaign to date in a Spurs shirt and is still chasing the Premier League Golden Boot with one game remaining.

His 21 goals in the top-flight mean he is the club’s leading scorer and will be hoping to add to that tally when Spurs travel to Norwich on the final day.

But Son’s efforts this term have not been enough to put his name in the hat for the Fans’ Player of the Year award, having not been shortlisted as a contender to win the prize.

Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been listed alongside Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden, with both sides currently still in the hunt for the league title.

Declan Rice has also earned a spot for his strong campaign with West Ham, while Crystal Palace midfielder and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has claimed the final place.

This is a truly baffling decision considering Son has been pretty consistent throughout the campaign for Spurs, while scoring more than 20 goals without any penalties is also a big feat on its own.

It is interesting how the likes of Gallagher and Foden, despite both midfielders’ obvious talent, have made it on the list ahead of him with their seasons being very patchy at times.
