‘Tottenham’s interest is concrete’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms 26-year-old target

Fabrizio Romano says that while Tottenham do hold a keen interest in Raphinha, they are waiting to find out if and when the winger will be put up for sale by Barcelona as the Catalan club devise strategies to offset their losses.

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of wide players over the last month or two, with one of those being Raphinha, who has not been a regular in Barca’s starting eleven this season.

Some outlets have claimed over recent weeks that the Lilywhites have already contacted the former Leeds man’s agent to discuss a potential summer move (Relovo).

It was reported by Sport a little over a week ago that Tottenham had been interested in the Brazilian ‘throughout his career’ but they suggested that the North London club should be wary of potential competition from Saudi Arabia for the player this summer.

Tottenham are waiting to hear about Raphinha

Romano has now confirmed that the 26-year-old is on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist but he added Spurs are waiting to hear Barcelona’s plans for the player before entering into negotiations with the La Liga side.

The journalist said on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube Channel: “For Raphinha, it could be different. I think Tottenham’s interest is concrete, but it’s important to understand the financial situation at Barcelona by the end of April or the beginning of May.

“This understanding will dictate how much profit they aim to make with their players, especially with Raphinha, considering they paid significant money to sign him from Leeds.

“Therefore, in terms of financial fair play, Barcelona must aim to make a profit if they intend to sell players. Raphinha is certainly appreciated at Tottenham, but before entering into concrete talks, Tottenham needs to understand Barcelona’s plan for this deal, which is currently unclear.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Raphinha is Tottenham’s top winger target for the summer. I suspect that the likes of Antonio Nusa and Pedro Neto will rank higher on the North London club’s wishlist, with the Barca star being seen as a contingency option.
