James Maddison aimed a funny dig at popular gaming community figure Angry Ginge as he was leaving to go watch Tottenham Hotspur in action in the Champions League.
Spurs made a winning start to their Champions League campaign, overcoming Villarreal 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was not a stellar performance from the home side by any means, but Thomas Frank admitted that he is delighted to start the campaign with three points and a clean sheet.
Tottenham, of course, got into the competition courtesy of winning the Europa League final, and Maddison did not let a Man United fan forget about the night in Bilbao.

Tottenham’s James Maddison makes Champions League jibe at Man United
According to Football.London, ahead of the match, Maddison took part in EA Sports’ First Gameplay Livestream event in London, where he joined gaming community figures such as Angry Ginge, Behzinga and Niko Omilana.
As the midfielder left the event to head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he could not resist having a dig at Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwhistle and is a Man United supporter.
Maddison said: “I’ve got to get to the game. I’ve got to get to the Champions League game”, and Burtwhistle responded: “Oh, Champions League?”
Maddison then delivered a cheeky reply, saying: “The competition we qualified for by beating you.” Watch their interaction below:
Tottenham’s defensive resolve comes to the fore against Villarreal
Many of Tottenham’s attackers did not have the best of outings, including Xavi Simons, who made his home debut for Spurs.
However, the Lilywhites’ new defensive structure once again came up trumps, with the home side managing to keep Villarreal at bay.
It was Tottenham’s fourth clean sheet in their last five games, signalling a huge improvement from last season, where their defence was extremely porous.
