Tottenham’s Jamie Donley and Will Lankshear impress with international goals

Jamie Donley continued his hot streak in front of goal, with the attacker netting a brace for England Under-19s in their thumping win over Romania while his Tottenham teammate Will Lankshear also got on the scoresheet.

Donley has been unplayable for Tottenham’s Under-21s so far this season, having managed six goals and 11 assists in 11 matches across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The 18-year-old has already made Ange Postecoglou’s matchday squad on a couple of occasions this season and according to various reports, the Australian and his coaching staff have been extremely impressed by the teenager in training.

In fact, TEAMtalk reported a couple of days ago that Postecoglou is expected to hold talks with the Spurs hierarchy over the coming weeks about whether Donley is ready to be loaned out to an EFL club in January.

The outlet added that the likes of Charlton and Leyton Orient are ready to seize on the opportunity to sign the attacking midfielder should he be available on loan.

Jamie Donley continues his goalscoring streak

Donely carried his form into the international stage as England’s Under-19s thumped Romania 6-0 on Wednesday.

The Tottenham youngster capitalised on an error by the Romanian goalkeeper who fumbled a cross midway into the first half, with the versatile attacker thumping the ball home.

Donley then scored his second at the start of the second as he volleyed home after a corner kick was only half-cleared.

Meanwhile, Lankshear also found the back of the net in his debut game for the England Under-19, with the Spurs striker rounding off the scoring with a little less than 20 minutes left on the clock.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that a number of EFL clubs would have already reached out to Tottenham to ask about Donley’s availability in January.

If Spurs do decide to loan out the 18-year-old, they must ensure that he joins a team which plays possession-based football and one that uses a system that relies on a number eight/ten, which is Donley’s best position.
