Tottenham’s last 10 results at the Emirates highlight huge worry for Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a return to the Emirates in the league, but their recent record in this fixture paints a challenging picture that Thomas Frank will need to confront head-on.

Thomas Frank is set to take charge of his first competitive north London derby as Tottenham boss since taking over at the club, and while he managed a win over Arsenal during Spurs’ tour of Asia, he is yet to face Mikel Arteta’s side in a competitive meeting.

In his clashes against the traditional big six, Frank has picked up just one win, beating Manchester City, while he suffered defeat against Chelsea and settled for a draw against Manchester United.

However, once the international break concludes, Frank will make the short trip to the Emirates Stadium, where he knows the demands of this derby will test both his set-up and his players.

Tottenham struggles away to Arsenal in recent years

It is set to be a big task for Spurs as the Emirates has been a difficult ground for them in recent seasons, with very little joy to take from their visits.

Looking at Tottenham’s last ten league fixtures at Arsenal inspires little confidence, as Spurs are without a single win during that run, which underlines the size of the hurdle Frank must clear.

In that period, Arsenal have won six of the last ten games at the Emirates, with Tottenham forced to settle for draws in the remaining four, and if Frank is to take three points this weekend, he would need to achieve something that has not been done since the 2010/11 season, when Spurs won 3-2 away from home.

Spurs away form could give Thomas Frank hope

While history strongly points to Arsenal securing three points or at least a draw from this clash, recent form suggests Frank’s side could give Arteta’s men a real test.

Spurs are currently the best away side in the Premier League, with Frank and his team picking up a league high 13 points away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, level with Arsenal, who have played one more away match.

On their travels, Spurs have scored a league high 12 goals and conceded a league low three goals, and Frank will be hoping for more of the same when they take on Arsenal, as he aims for his side to remain unbeaten on the road.
