Tottenham’s likely next step rules out Pochettino replacing Thomas Frank, for now

A new report has shed light on what Tottenham Hotspur are now expected to do after calling time on the Thomas Frank project.

Although Frank was unlucky with injuries during his spell at Tottenham, the Dane certainly cannot argue that he was not given a fair crack.

The Spurs hierarchy, who persisted with the 52-year-old through an extremely tumultuous last few months, finally decided that the loss against Newcastle United was one too many.

Many Spurs fans are surprised that it took this long for the club to sack Frank, but are relieved that the Lewis Family have finally pulled the trigger.

Are Tottenham set to appoint an interim head coach or a permanent replacement?

Sky Sports have now revealed on their live blog that the early indications coming out of Hotspur Way are that an interim appointment until the end of the season is the most likely option for the Lilywhites.

The report says that there is expected to be a major managerial merry-go-round in the summer, which may be why it could be prudent for Tottenham to wait.

It is revealed that Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola, who were all on Spurs’ radar last summer, could be available in the summer as all of their contracts run out in June. Pochettino is also leading the USA out to their home World Cup this summer.

One Spurs managerial target is now available

Sky Sports also points out that Roberto de Zerbi parted ways with Marseille on Tuesday night. The report says that the former Brighton boss is expected to return to the Premier League at some stage.

It was claimed by TEAMtalk a couple of months ago that De Zerbi is on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Frank, but the report added that the Lilywhites may face competition from Man United for the Italian.
