Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall reveals ‘tragic’ truth behind living in London after recent safety concerns

Lucas Bergvall has revealed the precautions he takes for his and his family’s safety after seeing one of his Tottenham teammates go through a horrible ordeal.

It has been another frustrating, injury-hit season for Destiny Udogie on the pitch, but that pales in comparison to what the left-back has gone through off it.

Back in September of last year, a 31-year-old agent allegedly pulled a gun on the Udogie and a family member on a busy London street.

If that were not enough, back in January, the Tottenham defender revealed that thieves had broken into his 150k Range Rover.

Lucas Bergvall admits he and his Tottenham teammates stay vigilant in London

Bergvall has had to experience moving away from his family and living on his own in a new country for the first time over the past two seasons.

The Tottenham midfielder admits that he and his fellow professionals do not take security lightly and stay vigilant at all times.

When asked what precautions he takes amidst the backdrop of high-profile robberies of Premier League footballers, Bergvall told Expressen: “You have to have the best security you can, cameras and so on. Then you just have to stay alert all the time and see if anyone is following you or anything; if so, you have to be ready.”

When asked about Udogie being victimised, the 20-year-old said: “It’s tragic and sad; you have to try to be as prepared as you can. You try not to think about it too much, but you do what you can.”

When asked whether he had personally experienced anything scary, the youngster responded: “No. Well, it could have been someone you thought was following you, but it hasn’t been like that. You just have to stay alert.”

Bergvall hopeful regarding Spurs teammate Dejan Kulusevski’s injury

Bergvall helped Sweden seal their qualification to the World Cup with a playoff final win against Poland earlier this week.

Graham Potter’s men progressed to the tournament despite being without two of their most important players, Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak, who are both out injured, and Bergvall is hopeful his Spurs teammate will be part of the squad in North America this summer.

The midfielder added: “Incredibly cool, I saw that he [Isak] was now back on the training ground and that he will soon be back in the game. Yes, incredibly cool. Of course, the goal is for him [Kulusevski] to come back, to come back to the World Cup. He is a part of this, 100%.”
