Tottenham’s next Carabao Cup opponents send message on Twitter

Tottenham Hotspur received a big boost on Tuesday after Leyton Orient overcame Plymouth Argyle 3-2 to set up a short away trip for the Lilywhites in their Carabao Cup third-round clash.

Spurs face a nightmare start to the season with as many as 9 matches in 21 days, featuring Carabao Cup and Europa League qualification matches sandwiched between Premier Leauge encounters.

Jose Mourinho has already blasted the authorities who decided on the club’s schedule and admitted that it would be a very hard challenge for his squad to deal with.

Tottenham begin their European adventure this evening when they travel to Bulgaria to take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the second round of Europa League qualifying.

Spurs then travel to St. Mary’s for the first away league game of the season on Sunday before beginning their League Cup campaign next Wednesday.

Mourinho’s men faced the prospect of making the 226-mile journey to Plymouth next week but with Orient getting the better of the League One side, Spurs now face a much less daunting trip to Brisbane Road instead.

Leyton even took the time out to send a cheeky message to Spurs on Twitter:

Spurs Web Opinion

Travelling long distances every two days for matches can be as big a contributor to fatigue as playing matches. So, given the crazy schedule we have, it is certainly a positive that we have a trip just up the road to Leyton Orient next week. Hopefully, we get drawn at home in the subsequent rounds should we overcome the League Two side.
