Tottenham’s six potential Champions League R16 opponents confirmed

With the group stage of the Champions League concluding on Wednesday, Tottenham now know the list of teams they could face in the round of 16 stage.

Group D was the most fiercely contested in the competition, with all four teams having a chance to finish top of the table going into the final matchday.

Spurs were facing the possibility of potential elimination at half-time against Marseille but managed to turn the result around and finish at the top of the group.

Teams who finish in the top spot in their respective groups will be drawn against a team who finished second in one of the other groups in the round of 16.

However, Spurs cannot face Liverpool, who finished second in group A, as teams from the same country cannot play each other in the round of 16 stage. The Lilywhites will also not face Eintracht Frankfurt, who finished second in their own group.

Here are the six potential opponents that Antonio Conte’s men could face in the next round:

Club Brugge
Inter Milan
AC Milan
RB Leipzig
Borussia Dortmund
Paris Saint-Germain

The draw for the round of 16 stage takes place at 11 am on Monday, November 7 (via Rob Guest).

While PSG are obviously the ones to avoid in the next round, the likes of Leipzig, Dortmund or Milan would also be quite tricky ties. Having said that, there is no reason we cannot beat any of those teams if we have all our key players fit by the time the knockout stages get underway in February.
