Tottenham’s summer signing admits he is starting to feel ‘at home’

Cristian Romero has admitted that he is starting to feel more at home at Tottenham Hotspur following his summer move from Atalanta.

On the back of his impressive showing at Bergamo last season, Spurs snapped up Romero on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy him permanently for £42.5m.

After a shaky start to life in North London, the Argentine is now starting to show the kind of form that he displayed in the Serie A last season and during the Cope America over the summer.

His partnership with Eric Dier seems to have the makings of a solid pairing and Tottenham’s defensive record has improved since their three consecutive defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal last month.

The 23-year-old has now said that he feels good at his new surroundings but admitted that he needs more time to fully adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

Romero told Sky Sports: “Slowly but surely, I’m feeling more at home here.

“It’s not something that would happen overnight and every change of environment requires a period of adapting.

“I’m feeling good at the moment and hopefully I can continue playing at this level.”

Given Romero’s aggressive style of play, it is inevitable that he will make a few mistakes along the way as he continues to settle into English football. Nuno needs to be patient and persist with him as the Argentine clearly has the potential to develop into a world-class central defender.
