Tottenham’s Will Lankshear scores seventh goal of the season and Kevin Danso will love it

Tottenham’s Will Lankshear proved to be the hero for Oxford United on Monday night as they pulled off a dramatic win against MK Dons.

Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round on Sunday, but there will be some Spurs representation in the fourth round.

That is because Lankshear ensured that Oxford United overcame League Two side MK Dons, but not before the game went to penalties.

Lanskhear had already scored six times for Oxford this term, and the Tottenham academy striker netted his seventh of the campaign with superb composure.

Aaron Collins gave the League Two side the lead on 34 minutes, but Lankshear brought Oxford back level with a well-taken equaliser on 52 minutes.

That is how the scores stayed until the end of extra-time, with the Championship side emerging 5-4 winners on penalties.

The Tottenham Hotspur youngster was withdrawn on 92 minutes and thus did not take a penalty, but his equaliser would put a smile on the face of Frank and his coaching staff.

That is because it came via a Kevin Danso style long throw, which the Dons defence failed to deal with, with Lankshear producing an instinctive finish on the volley.

Lankshear is proving his mettle in a make-or-break season

Lankshear has an exceptional record in youth football for Spurs, and he made his mark in the first-team last season, scoring his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League clash at Galatasaray.

While the 20-year-old struggled to make an impact on loan at West Brom during the second-half of last season, he is now proving his mettle in the Championship.

While seven goals may not seem like a lot, it is worth bearing in mind that he has scored those goals for a team sitting in the relegation zone, who have struggled to create chances.
