Townsend responds to fan who questioned his non-celebration against Spurs

A depleted Tottenham side who rested quite a few of their key stars on top of their injuries, were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday by Crystal Palace.

Roy Hodgson named a pretty strong line up for the tie and the home side took full advantage of Tottenham’s sloppiness and they went two-nil ahead before the half time break.

While Connor Wickham opened the scoring for the Eagles, defender Kyle Walker-Peters then handled the ball inside the Palace area forcing the referee to award the home side a penalty.

Former Spurs winger Andros Townsend stepped up to take the spot-kick and rifled it past Paulo Gazzaniga in the Tottenham goal. The 27-year-old who came through the youth ranks at Spurs refused to celebrate after the goal in a show of respect for his former club.

After the game, a troll decided to take a dig at Townsend suggesting that he didn’t need to show respect to a club who loaned him out multiple times before eventually deeming him not to be good enough. Townsend responded to the troll in an extremely classy fashion.
