Transfer decision haunts Spurs as youngster remains rooted to the bench out on loan

The decision to loan out Alejo Veliz to Sevilla looks like a bigger and bigger blunder with each passing week, with the striker continuing to warm the bench for Sevilla.

Any hopes that Veliz might have had of getting a few opportunities and impressing Quique Sanchez Flores are now quickly disappearing, with the Spanish coach seemingly in no mood to give the youngster even a few minutes.

The 20-year-old was once again an unused substitute for Sevilla in their recent win over Mallorca and their 1-1 draw in the local derby at Real Betis.

That means that the Argentine has only played a total of 23 minutes since moving to the Andalusian club in the January transfer window.

Alejo Veliz needs a better loan move next season

Meanwhile, several reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Tottenham have already started planning for a new loan move for Veliz when he returns to Hotspur Way this summer (Fabrizio Romano).

According to a recent update by TyC Sports, Spurs want to send the centre-forward to a relatively big club so that he can get used to the pressures of playing at the highest level but also want to ensure he gets sufficient minutes under his belt.

After the blunder Spurs have committed by sending Veliz to Sevilla, Johan Lange and co will be extra careful to ensure that they find the striker a club where he gets regular starts under his belt. Sending him to a Championship side might be Tottenham’s best bet in the summer.
