Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Barcelona have offered Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Coutinho over the past few weeks, with a season-long loan deal (Football Insider) as well as a permanent transfer (Sport) both suggested as possibilities.
The Catalan giants are seemingly desperate to get the 27-year-old off the wage bill amidst the effects of the current COVID-19 pandemic (Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness).
The midfielder’s agent has also admitted that he would like to return to the Premier League this summer (talkSPORT).
A return to Anfield is said to be the Barcelona star’s preference (Sunday World journalist Kevin Palmer), but reports indicate that the Reds have not made an offer for him yet (90min).
In a comment on his post on Timo Werner’s move to Chelsea, Romano confirmed that Coutinho had been offered to the Lilywhites.
However, the journalist revealed that Barcelona are yet to receive an offer for the Brazilian.

The only way that we are likely to see Coutinho coming to Spurs is if Barcelona agree to loan him out with an option to buy. Even in that scenario, the midfielder would have to take a substantial pay cut to make the move happen. Given how desperate Barcelona seem to sell the midfielder permanently rather than loaning him out again, I just cannot see us completing a deal for the former Liverpool star.
