Transfer journalist gives four reasons why Dybala could pick Spurs over Man Utd

Transfer journalist Duncan Castles has given four reasons why Paulo Dybala may choose to snub English heavyweights Manchester United to join Spurs instead (Transfer Window Podcast).

The Juventus forward has been linked with a move away from Turin this summer after failing to hit his usual heights at the Serie A club following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. (ESPN)

Castles believes that Dybala may be sold on the project that Mauricio Pochettino is building at Tottenham.

“Look, they have Champions League football, which is attractive,” he said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

“They’re also based in London, which is going to be attractive.

The fact that Spurs have Champions League football to look forward to whilst also reaching the final in Madrid last season were given as reasons for why Dybala may prefer a move to the North London club.

He added: “They reached the Champions League final last season which will not have gone unnoticed.

“They have a coach that I think will be able to sell the project better and certainly have a higher status in world football than Manchester United have.”

It is unclear at this point whether or not a deal for Dybala would mean Christian Eriksen would be sold. However, because the Dane has stated he is looking for a ‘new challenge’ (Ekstra Bladet) a summer move is not out of the question.

Manchester United have historically been the nation’s biggest club, and they still are in terms of fan base. However they no longer have the pulling power they once did after years of underperformance. Because of this it is very possible that a player of Dybala’s quality would choose to join Spurs over Manchester United
