Transfer talks halted with Tottenham playmaker; one door closes for the Dane

Manchester United are reported to have halted their interest in signing Christian Eriksen ahead of the transfer window closing tomorrow afternoon.

The BBC report that the Old Trafford outfit have become concerned that the Dane is instead more interested in a move to Spain.

Eriksen revealed just days after Tottenham’s disappointing defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final that he would like to leave the club ahead of the new season to seek a fresh challenge whilst also inviting interest from Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

The 27-year-old is within the last year of his contract in North London and had held discussions with United over a possible switch to the former Premier League champions but were left concerned by where he really wants to play his football.

Talks between United and Eriksen were said to have been at an ‘advanced stage’ and now it appears that the playmaker will still be at Spurs until at least the closure of the English transfer window (AS).

With the transfer window remaining open for major European leagues including Italy and Spain beyond Thursday there is still a chance Eriksen could leave.
